About This Site

This blog launched around September 2014. All posts are written by Rachel R. Vasquez (me) and are mostly WordPress based, whether they’re tutorials or food for thought.

When I first started this blog, it was out of frustration. Either I had learned things without any guidance from documentation online, or the guidance existed wasn’t in layman’s terms.

Tired of sifting through all the “dev lingo” while trying to learn, I wanted to spare others that were in the same boat from this frustration. Since then, I try to share what I can to hopefully make everyone else’s journey to becoming a “full fledged web developer” (whatever that means) a little less painful.

About The Domain, RachieVee

What is a RachieVee? Feel free to ask me. 🙂

About Rachel’s Professional Experience

I’m a WordPress enthusiast with front-end roots and have been expanding my full stack skill set since 2017. I’ve been writing code professionally since 2011 and while I still have lots to learn, I want to use this blog to share my journey.

When I had more time on my hands, I contributed to WordPress core. I’m no longer very active on the support forums or stack exchange these days, but I used to spend a lot of time in the Accessibility Slack room for Core, helping out with handbook documentation.

I occasionally contribute to open source as well on Github.

You can get a full picture of my professional skillset on my LinkedIn profile.

About Rachel’s Personal Life

I’m a New Yorker who is also hard of hearing – hence why writing about accessibility is close to my heart.

Huge fan of tea, chocolate, and anime! I’m an occasional gamer. On my free time, I’m tending to her majesty, a shiba inu named Tali, or spending time with fam.

I’ve also been writing all my life, and it’s that hobby that has helped bring this blog to fruition. I wrote as a kid, wrote slam poetry in high school, wrote tutorials at my first dev job, and am still writing for my current employer. I am hoping to someday publish a book, whether it’d be in the WordPress world or fiction – only time will tell. If you’re interested in my creative writing twitter – give me a shout.

Everything is dated 2015 – are you still out there?

I am, yep. The pandemic, and other life things understandably stunted my writing motivation.
